2023 was another amazing year within Joule. I thought it would be worthwhile to take a break from the market action and share some highlights that you’ve helped make possible.

Size & Scope

I would be remiss not to mention that I personally have now clocked over 23 years in this business. From humbled beginnings cold calling for new customers, we now have the great privilege of caring for close to $350MM in assets, working with over 650 families all throughout the United States. Our partnership with Bluespring Wealth Partners is close to wrapping up its second year and I couldn’t be more pleased with this decision. I feel more confident than ever that we have the resources, technology, team and innovative strategies to assist our clients for generations to come.

Daniel will soon be celebrating his 15th anniversary with Joule. As Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, Daniel continues to ensure our business remains operational and in good standing each and every day. He remains the bedrock over our planning team and a trusted advisor for me personally. He may be a quiet spirit, but his wisdom and steady hand can be seen in almost every decision we make as a firm.
Linda will be celebrating her 13th anniversary with Joule this coming year and continues to lead our client service team with a care for our clients that is recognized by all who walk through our doors. Linda spends quite a bit of time with her growing family as she recently welcomed their 6th grandbaby with a 7th due in April. Linda has always been and will continue to be the glue between Daniel and I, ensuring anything we desire to happen, does in fact actually happen.

Logan is now entering his 4th year with Joule and if you’ve ever had a conversation with him, you may believe that number is actually 14. I can honestly say that I have never met someone so intelligent in my life with such a knack for what we do and a fantastic personality which accompanies an incredible work ethic. Logan was truly an answer to prayer as he and I work side by side on a daily basis taking much of the daily workload off my plate allowing me to concentrate on market decisions and the general direction of the firm as a whole. Logan will continue to take on more and more responsibility and it is clear why this is, as his thorough and thoughtful execution is second to none. Logan is in the pursuit of his CFP designation, and we suspect that to be finalized sometime in 2024.

Georgia is a recent addition for us in 2022, stepping in for Abby who is presently at home caring for her young twins as well as a newborn baby. Georgia comes to us with great experience in the industry and has stepped in and adopted her new role with great enthusiasm. Assisting Linda in the daily tasks of client administration, Georgia has been a wonderful welcome and is quickly finding her place within the team. If you have had a chance to converse with Georgia, I am sure you’ll agree we’re lucky to have her.

Allie, our rising star and resident CPA is also a new addition for Joule this year. With the increasing complexity and necessity of tax planning, it was imperative for us to hire a CPA and to say we hit the jackpot would be an understatement. Allie has been with Joule for 6 months now and is already involved in just about every client planning meeting or strategy session. It is safe to say that if we’re recommending a strategy for your retirement years, it has been reviewed by Allie. While we will not be preparing returns any time soon, having a full-time CPA on staff is one of the critical components setting us apart from the masses. If by chance Allie isn’t in the office you may find her on a trail, in the woods or backpacking out west. Her adventurous spirit and infectious personality have been a welcome.

During 2023 I had the privilege of appearing on CNBC almost every other week, while also participating in our custodian’s own Schwab Network a handful of times.
One of the most notable interviews of the year came in September when I was asked to the floor of the New York Stock Exchange for a live interview discussing the year end. Not only was this nostalgic experience something I got to share with my wife of nearly 20 years now, but the prognostication I am proud to have on record. You can find this and other interviews HERE

In 2023 Daniel was nominated by Advisor Hub as #41 of 50, next generation advisors to watch. [1]

While I had the privilege of attending a black-tie gala in New York as a nominee for Thought Leader of the Year from WealthManagement.com  Unfortunately, I didn’t take home the hardware, but it was a wonderful experience, nonetheless. [2]

Logan furthered his media splash this year as well, being called upon numerous times for Schwab Network to give his thoughts on various sectors and companies. They seem to be calling him more and more these days and I suspect it’s only a matter of time until he moves on to the CNBC big stage. As soon as he does, I will be the first to shout it for all to hear.
This year we also sat down with a few thought leaders, something we’d like to do more. Hopefully our interview on Cybersecurity as well as Estate Planning were of value. If you missed any of these, take some time to watch HERE and keep an eye on future interviews coming soon.

Looking Ahead

By all accounts, 2023 has been an amazing year but none of it could have been possible without you. Many of you reading this have been clients for most of our existence and have witnessed firsthand all of our growth, evolution and progress.

While markets will go up and markets will go down, you can rest assured that we will never stop working hard to help you progress towards your goals and objectives.
As we roll into a New Year, please know that I believe Joule, as a firm is positioned better than ever before to further our business and continue to work with exceptional people just like you. We have invested in our infrastructure, staff and service lineup to help folks from the most basic to the most complex retirement and financial planning needs. We still do NOT sell any products and remain a true fiduciary. Furthermore, our flat rate fee remains the same as it was when I first opened our doors over 20-years ago.

Should you desire a second opinion or know of anyone who may benefit from our services, please don’t hesitate to share our information. While we have come a very long way from our humble beginnings a few decades ago, I feel we’re only just now beginning to scratch the surface of where we can go into the future.

From our family to yours, may you have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Until next time

~ Quint
